Child Benefit - The first Month

The child was born on 3rd August 2010 - However Child Benefit is only payable from September 2010 onwards .

Does anyone know , why Child Benefit is not been paid for the Month of August ?

That the rules, only effective from month after child is born.

So that a child born on 3rd or 31st August are treated equally, I suppose!

Yes, also the child who turns 18 on 3rd of August will get paid for that month, same as the child who turns 18 on 31st of August. Swings and roundabouts really.

Because you didn't have a child at the beginning of August when it was paid, fairly obviously!

Thanks for the replies everyone , - so this kid has to wait until he turns 18 to qualify for his first month of Child Benefit .
