Change of Trading Name

Hi, I operate as sole trader using a registered company name since 2000. Recently it came to my attention there is a new limited company using same registered name and we both operate in same industrial sector. Do i have any recourse here or is it straight forward for me to change trading name with companies office, bank, revenue etc.

It sounds like you are using a business name and not a company. A business name offers you no protection against someone else using the same name. You would need to be a company for that.
It sounds like you may have a 'passing off' issue here. You can get a a solicitor to send them a cease and desist letter and see what happens. After that you are looking at Court I would imagine and I'll leave advice on that to a solicitor.
