Change of car ownership

I bought a car from a private seller, waited for the registration certificate to be delivered to me,it's been a month now and he is not taking my calls,when I cal the department of transport they say they haven't received a thing,so I do t know what to do,I can't drive the car and I can't tax it

Can't see that you can do anything other than keep chasing the seller for the registration cert. Perhaps you were scammed?

You could ask the Garda to confirm or not that the person who sold the car was the registered owner

Did you sign the Vehicle Licensing Certificate? When transferring privately, you sign this bit, the vendor signs his bit, and is meant to send it on its way. If you've signed it and he's not bothered sending it, he can't do much with it (as anyone else will see your signature there, if he tries to sell it twice).

Either way, I think you have a trip to the Gardai as your next step: either to declare the VLC lost (if he has sent it) or fraud (if he hasn't, but took your money). Hopefully the Gardai can give some idea of how best to proceed.

Yes we both signed and I took a photo, ownership the department of transport send me a declaration form now um stuck with the cardealer stamp and signature they are refusing to help me so my last hope is the garda
