Our house (part of estate of 42 houses) had been built in 1977. Attic converted into storage room, with pull-up ladder - with dormer windows at rear in 1982. Then lean-to extension to the rear (8ft x 8ft - small enough not to require planning permission) erected in 1990. Finally, wall between kitchen and dining-room removed to make it open-plan, with JSB erected for support - done in 2007. If we decided to sell the house within the next few years for down-sizing purposes, will the services of a building surveyor/architect be required to examine the house and provide necessary certificates of compliance, etc. prior to putting up the house on the market? Fortunately, the papers covering all the above works, including a letter from a county council approving attic conversion, have been retained on files, if the architect/solicitors want to check. Thanks in advance.
