Just wanted to share my ignorance with others so that they don't make a similar mistake.
I was auto renewed for a health insurance policy with VHI unbeknownst to me. I've never had any policy auto renew before (after a lifetime of paying car/house/travel/health insurances). I ended up paying for two health insurance policies for one calendar year. My mistake was opting for VHI monthly payment option - I usually pay, once off, in full for any insurance policy.
VHI informed me that, since they didn't hear back from me at renewal time, they auto renewed me. I didn't think they could do this but now I am wiser.
Anyways, this might be obvious for everyone else. But it wasn't for me.
