Canvas Art for Wall?

I am looking for a coloured canvas (approx 4x4 or 5x5) for a large blank wall in the house. Apart from seeing the some canvas paintings and abstracts in home furnishings shops, I have never seen a large collection in one shop for me to find what I'm looking for. Any suggestions of where to go??
 
D'ont know if it is near to you, but there is a place called Art Direct just outside Newbridge and he has a fairly big selection. Alternatively, if you want prints framed, he does that too. He has a huge selection of books to choose from.

I think they have a website. I got a couple for the house there, told my neighbour and she bought a load too!

Failing that, Gallary 53 or (23), not sure what its called, are in Blanchardstown. Some lovely stuff there, but expensive.
 
Ever consider doing it yourself? I am an Arts Facilitator and I help people and groups to create their own pictures, with significance and meaning for them.
You dont need someone like me-!
E.G. My daughter was kitting out her place and bought a large white canvas and paint and did her own match/mix /contrast colour abstract. She and her husband did it together- as she said, with a bottle of wine!! Both used their hands- and had a theme etc-- and have it hanging in their lounge over their couch- far better than anything you might buy!! and cheap and fun to create.
OR call into the College of Art - or any art group in your locality and look at what anybody (someone - student, maybe--unknown) might have for sale.

Would second that. Have done all of my own and have done some with friends. GREAT fun!
 
thanks for those shopname Mandac! Will defo check them out. Cibby & Lauren - have thought about it - but not sure I am brave enough to be honest!! Have already 3 little canvases done by my 4 and 1 year old in their playroom which are great using the same technique as you describe (substituting bottle of wine with juice!!). So might think about it.... thanks!
 
We constantly get people calling to our house showing a collection of paintings, they say because they don't have costs as they don't have to pay galleries that they are a lot cheaper. Had a look at them a couple of times and they have a bit of everything, abstract, landscapes, Van Gogh, cities... I though they were quite reasonable, prices from 80 to 150. Got their number the last time they called up, not sure where you are or if they would travel, we are in kildare, pm if you are interested.

This one has been covered many times on AAM before. These people are selling cheap prints, which are mass produced China and are worth more like a tenner than 80 to 150!!!

What about getting one of your favourite photos done as a canvas print? are doing a special discount on these at the moment but lots of others do them too so shop around for the best deal. You could also take an abstract shot and/or use photo editing to get some effects in before sending the image off for printing if you liked. The possibilities are almost endless, it could be a bit of fun and you would have the pride of having at least contributed something to the end result.

Where can you get large (very)blank canvas in Dublin? Want to get my 4 year old to try his hand at the DIY art thingy?

Actually, I see that if you sign up for their newsletter you get the code.

This I did, but the code they gave me does not work in the discount section when I enter it before "check out". And when I "reply" to their e-mail to tell them this, I just get a bounceback.

Is there another e-mail address to contact Aldi, as I looked through their website and can't see anything.

I bought a stunning piece (6ft canvas) from this artist www.adriangallagher.com a while back and I still get visitors who are whow-ed by it........

I would check out up and coming artists as many will be more than welcome to do commissions to suit your needs.
 
Try Purple Productions for some funky art on canvas, I've a few pieces that always turn heads. They do your own photos too but their own stuff is really great (no offence to pics of your nearest and dearest :)) See gallery here [broken link removed]
