I don't know why you're so hung up on this...

Because of the danger of someone reading your misleading and inaccurate posts and making poor decisions as a consequence.

... As I see it, buying the car new will cost about €15K + VRT; buying second hand will cost about €13K, so the difference is more than a couple of grand.

You are the only one who see things that way.

The price of any of these Fiat 500's is the price displayed - it includes both VRT & VAT. Your assertion that the price is plus VRT is utter nonsense.
