Can an increase for an adult dependent be claimed temporarily?

Husband is 5 years older than wife and therefore qualifies for State Contributory Pension 5 years sooner. Very little other retirement income. Wife will qualify for a partial State Contributory Pension in her own right after 5 years. Assuming qualification conditions are met, can husband claim for an adult dependent for those 5 years until wife gets her own SC pension?
