Builder charging interest while snags remain outstanding?

Well - the outcome is this.. Doors still not changed, windows changed in front of house but not back, apprently builders can't read the snag list. So I picked up my keys last Friday and closed 'subject to' the work being done afterwards.

Sorry to all of you out there that thought I should wait it out and fight the fight but the solicitor was not condusive to doing so.

Conclusion - could have closed in the same position I am in now at start of october. It's worth paying a few extra quid for a 'good' solicitor in case things go wrong.

I genuinely hope you get that stuff sorted...have little time for builders.

From experience and friends experience, once you hand over your money they want nothing to do with you. A bit like car dealers!!

Best of luck though. Be really annoying if they start to drag their heals. I mean really annoying. Eventually they'll do it cos you're a pain in their ass.
 
I realise it's a bit late now, but all the way through the purchase of my apartment, my solicitor advised that closing was never subject to snagging, i.e. I couldn't hold up closing because of a snag list.

He always advised to focus very quickly on the big stuff, and get that sorted, and then see what "balance" could be found between getting those done and waiting for everything to be done.
 
I don't know how far you want to push the builder but I know of someone that threatened to picket all the other show houses until outstanding snags were complete.


Seemingly the builder turned up the next day to resolve the snags!!
