Hi Chris,

Yes, this is typical sales tactics. You won't make 10-15% capital growth in two days. Many developers purposely make phase 2 of a development more expensive than phase 1, just to sell out the latter. Your apartment will not be worth any more (and in my opinion, the original price was very high to start with). If you have already decided not to buy, then I definitely wouldn't let this sway you.

I am defintiely gonna pull out and take the hit on the 2K (Although £1,260 of this is reservation fee and remainder is admin fees - not clear if this is refundable). I got the sales agreement through today it all seems very professional and buyer friendly but at the end of the day 1,600EUR/m2 is way too excessive for this area- I should of done my research more thoroughly. Costly school-boy type error.

I am gonna change my tactics completely and go for an apartment in Dirstrict 5, 6 or 13 as advised. Budapest is a beautiful city and I look forward to seeing its continued progress in years to come.

Ask for a refund on your £2k. Make an excuse that you couldnt afford to buy and say they pushed a sale on someone.

Basically the development in question is double priced to foreign investors against the price charged to locals in Forints by some 30%!

I asked if I could pay the Forint price and got turned down. Strangely they removed the Forint prices off their hungarian section of the website leaving the inflated euro prices against the english section!

You definately did the right decision by pulling out IMO.
