Hi I am hoping to be soon be selling some prints of some paintings as a sole trader and was wondering how it will work selling to someone in the UK or a country outside Europe , that's if i sell some to these regions of course. What way does it work. say for instance i sell a print for 60 euro and it costs 10 euro to get printed and 10 euro to post to UK (maybe more i will need to check weight size etc). When filling out postage details for customs etc , is the item value 60 euro or is it 60 euro minus the 20 euro to get printed and postage cost. So do i value it as 40 euro , or is it the value you sell the item for to the purchaser. Sorry if this is a stupid question, I haven't a clue about this sort of thing and thanks in advance. Reason I ask is i recently purchased something from uk and I had to pay fees before an post would deliver it.

If you sell a print for € 60 then that is the price and this is the value

If you charge postage, say €10, then buyer has to pay € 70 the value is now € 70 imho

Thank you Jpd , no i was hoping to include postage in the cost and take the hit on the postage and packing. Thanks a million for clarifying it is very much appreciated

If these might be categorised as "art", or maybe even if not, then some of the information here may be of use...

I know from experience if you buy an item from outside the EU and postage is included in the cost (Free Postage), Customs will calculate postage from the cost to return the item from the point it entered the EU to its origin country.
This can lead to unwanted surprise to the purchaser.
