I was informed by BOI deposits that former KBC Regular Saver deposit accounts ( which transferred to BOI and are called Regular Saver Issue K) will NOT benefit from proposed rate increase from 1% to 2% as is the case for Regular Saver accounts originally opened with BOI.

Can you close your current regular saver and open a new one on the better rate?

Pity as I have one. Not defending the bank here but unlike other regular savers, all these accounts had quite a few bob already in them as KBC had them for a few years and most would have started a while ago.

I had one of these Regular Saver K accounts and had taken out most of it owing to the low interest rate.
However, looking at my statement for 2024 it seems that BOI did in fact increase the interest rate to 2% on 08 Sept 2023!

But on the BOI website there is no information whatsoever about this account or its interest rate.
Give that 2% is not ridiculous for a demand account can I now just start paying €1000 into it and get this rate?

I could ask BOI but the discrepancy between the information given to the first poster and the statement suggests that I might or might not get an accurate answer.
