I had a tracker mortgage with UB that transferred to AIB in August 2024. The August DD mortgage payment should have been processed by UB but wasn’t due to an error by UB. The mortgage transferred to AIB with an arrears of 1 month. I knew nothing about this.
I subsequently received a letter from AIB in Sept 2024 saying the mortgage was in arrears due to the missed mortgage payment. I then made a manual payment to AIB to bring it up to date. However there was arrears of €4.41 due to the late payment of the DD.
I made a complaint to UB requesting compensation to include the arrears on the mortgage. They agreed to this and offered me the compensation/redress that I had requested.
However, they also said that arrears on the mortgage was recorded in the CCR as a missed repayment. UB accept this was fully their fault. UB have requested AIB to process a correction on the CCR to reflect no missed payment on the mortgage. UB say however that it can take some time to correct the CCR though.
Making an error on the CCR is a serious error by UB. My question is, should I accept the compensation/redress offered by UB? Or should I make a complaint to the Ombudsman due to the seriousness of the CCR error that I wasn’t aware of? My credit rating on the CCR is currently being impacted because of this.
