Just got off the phone with my mortgage provider. It turns out that they have put an incorrect address down as the address that the mortgage is on :(

I was a first time buyer and as such had to give my rental address as current (correspondence) address when I was applying for a mortgage. Bank never updated my current address to the address of the property when we moved in (as first time buyer and loan not being buy to let I assumed they would do this as a matter of course & that logically it made sense). Over the first few months we had issues with the bank over them not actioning DDs. Eventually a case was brough to Ombudsman where we were compensated for the banks inadequacies. Bank was told to get records in order (including address & correspondence address).

So I changed bank recently and was ringing up to change the account for the DD. Bank asked me if they should send the new DD form to the correspondent address (mortgaged property) or the address that the mortgage was on (previous rental address).

If (in a hypothetical situation) we were no longer able to pay our mortgage, would the bank then try to reposess the previous rental address rather than the actual mortgaged property?
