I agree there is a good chance the insurance covers it.
There is an equally good chance you insurance may not cover it.
eg if the insurance company are giving you a discount based on using certain locks or an alarm etc. If you home is not protected in that manner they can (I have much experience of this) refuse a claim

If the policy covers larceny(as most do) and the property is occupied at the time of loss any discounts in respect of any alarm (i am not aware of any insurer providing discounts for locks) will have no bearing on a claim.

I am unaware of any circumstances where an insurer can turn down a claim in those curcumstances.

My Policy has a discount for all triple locking & monitored alarm.
Alarm must be set at night time & I am pretty sure this means your windows & doors should be locked.
