AVCs v Notional Service.. Ten years to buy back..

Hi Ruffian, yes i am post 1995 part of the garda pension scheme post 1995, many thanks for your reply, my main point is that people who bought post 1995 service, were sure they were buying service (years) in order to get near half pay as like pre 1995, and were never informed otherwise, if you can understand where i am coming from, regards

So it seems that notional service does not seem to contribute to count for OSP or prsi contributions .
Is it possible to pay the difference between what the clas d payed so as to make it count.
If this is not possible , I will have avc of about 50000 in avc .
Im post 1995 pre 2004 hse nurse ,60 yrs 31 yrs service plus 4 yrs notioal service.
If i retire at 61 yrs get my occupational pension, plus supplemtry pension and access my avc to about 10 %
To give me additional 5000 so i could then pay prsi to ensure i keep my prsi record keeps accumulating so i get a full contribution pension at 66yrs .
Apologies for long post but v disappointed with issues around notional service

I take it you have 36 years worth of reckonable full rate contributions. You can get your additional 4 years of paid (Class S) contributions via an appropriate level of annual ARF drawdown. It has been €5000 up to now - I don't know if there have been, or will be, any changes to that.
Alternatively credited contributions also count for State Pension purposes. If you apply for Jobseekers Benefit when you retire you will get credits (class A) for the duration and you can continue to sign for credits after the claim expires. Signing for credits is once a year.
