At 59 should I just retire now?

Could you clarify, is long term illness the only allowance given for retiring 5 years earlier?

Some good points but don't get caught out thinking so much about saving tax that you fail to match your spending with your smile curve, i.e. Spend most during the go-go years, not much in the middle and then more again when you have health issues. No point making a financial plan that is optimized for the slow-go years.

In occupational pension schemes, early retirement is generally possible with the employer's and/or trustees' consent from age 50 onwards. Under personal retirement savings account arrangements, early retirement from an employment is possible from age 50.

Generally u can access a pension scheme after 50 once you no longer work for that company.

Should you retire now? What are you waiting for. You are in a healthy position financially. In seven years time you will get an additional 15k per year from your state pension
You just need to figure out the most tax efficient way to take your money out. You will never be able to buy time back. Pay for a once off consultation with an experienced financial planner and go enjoy your freedom. There is a FB group called The Epic retirement club filled with people sharing their retirement plans - Reading their stories is a great motivator if you are on the fence about retiring.
