Are tractors allowed on Motorways?

I have always wondered about this as I travel on the M3 often, and often there are tractors on it trickling along,

What speeds are they maintaining? Motorways have minimum as well as maximum speed limits.

Hard to say. Maybe 50 or 60 km/h. Can they drive faster than that?

Yes they are once they can do over 50kmh and fully roadworthy.

"You must not enter a motorway if:

• you are a learner driver or do not hold a full licence for the category of vehicle you are driving;
• your vehicle cannot travel or maintain a speed of at least 50km per hour;
• your vehicle has an engine capacity of 50cc or less;
• you drive a tractor that cannot travel at or maintain a speed of at least 50km/h
• your vehicle does not use inflated tyres;
• you are walking, cycling or moving animals;
• you drive a motorised wheelchair (also known as an invalid carriage)."

I remember these signs used to be visible at motorway entrances.

I haven't noticed one in a while.
