Are there Credit Unions that still pay dividends?

My credit union (Dublin, south-side) stopped paying dividends some years ago and has no plans to review this.

Sheer inertia has caused me to leave my money on deposit with them.

As I recall, the dividends, in percentage terms, were equal to or better than bank deposits at the time.

What is the situation with credit unions now?

Thanks.

D.

Unless you have funds above a certain minimum value on deposit with them, they'll charge you for "minding" your money.

Yes - e.g.:

I used to keep some savings in the CU, but like yours my Dublin CU also pays zero interest. I keep an account open in the CU in case I have no access to my bank for any reason and to be in the CU monthly draw that has far better odds of a win than money spent on the Lotto.

Rather than leaving it in a current account, any funds that will be spent soon but not immediately or funds that might be allocated for something like holidays later in the year now goes into an AIB 7 day notice account @ .75%. Not a lot but a decent take away from AIB twice a year is better than zilch from my CU.
