Bought an ex-rental house in 2014 and solicitor at the time (I assume) looked for evidence of payment of NPPR and household charge. It was a long time ago and my emails with him don't have any evidence either way.
Anyway I'm looking to sell now my house and my (new) solicitor has raised the issue of NPPR and household charge. So I went and looked them up.
The NPPR website has confusing language which I think means that the NPPR is no longer relevant after 1 April 2025 (next week):
Is my understanding this correct?
I go to the Household Charge website and there doesn't seem to be any expiry of the liability but I can email them to see if it was paid. In any case is a purchaser's solicitor expected to look for evidence of payment?

At midnight March 31st, 2025, the 2013 charge will expire and the amount of NPPR fees and penalties a vendor is required to pay to sell a property unit which was an NPPR, reduces every year until the liability and charge on the property units expires completely on 1 April 2025.
