Do I have to accept a credit not when returning goods outside of sales (January Sales etc)? I shop regularly and I sometimes have to return cloths i.e.: Jeans. It is an inconvenience for me to accept these credit notes.
Please Help!

If you return goods because of a change of mind, then the retailer has no obligation to accept them back. If he does so, he can do it on his own terms, i.e. he can choose whether he should give you a refund, or a credit note

Ok I found something but what does all of thes legal jargon mean?:
Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act, 1980
Statements purporting to restrict rights of recipient of service:

answer to your orignal question, yes unless there is something wrong with them.

is the quality ok
is the size label ok
does it have a proper wash label, proper washing instructions etc

why do you need to return them?

yes i agree, they dont need to take them back if you changed your mind,
of course if the quality was bad, or the washing instructions were not very clear they would have to take them back

I bought a dress last april for 240 euro. I was unsure about it so brought it back the next day. I received a credit note.

I have only just noticed that it expired after 3 months!!! Is that legal ?

Don't know about the time limit you state but there has to be some limit. I imagine the shop can set it at more or less what they like since they were under no obligation to even provide the credit note in the first place.

Even 7 months later, I'd say it's still worth a try. I know someone who was given and £18 gift voucher for their 18th....found it 20 years later & it said it expired after a year. But they called Clery's & explained....guess what, they accepted it!!
