Applied - How do I make a payment?

I did the online CF38, Class 2, and got back an email saying it has been received. That's great.
They say they'll send me a letter. I'm in the USA and fear that they'll be too slow and I'll miss the deadline.

Can I approximate the amount due and send them an amount?
Do i need some additional IDs or reference numbers to be able to make the payment correctly?

Or do I just go in thru some portal and play it and it'll kind of magically sort itself out?

I appreciate any help or directions.

To clarify to ensure I explained myself correctly and completely:

I am applying class 2.
I want to top up between 2006 and 2016.

Can i still make the payment after April 5 so long as my class 2 is application is pushed in before April 5?

I'd appreciate you helping me out on this as the gov.uk website is a bit hard to understand.

You'll need an ID number for a reference on the payment, they will provide you with the bank account details to transfer to and then you just make an electronic transfer.
