A friend of mine told me that she can't access Askaboutmoney as AVG says it's a dangerous site

Anyone else with AVG running into problems?

Can they not edit their settings / preferences in AVG and allow access to AAM?

OOOPS, it's a specific new post on a named thread. Is that very naughty of someone?

I suspect it may be referring to post #22 on page 2 because of two words that appear close together at the end of the sentence that starts with "Don't let your self be ...".

I can't test my suspicions as I don't do Windoze or AVG.

I get that pop up, but just close it.

I was going to post asking if it was the site that was initiating the AVG pop up

thanks, I have deleted that specific post and will check if it's still a problem.

I know this doesn’t answer the question, but that looks like Windows 10/11 which comes with Microsoft Defender built-in, free and with no annoying prompts to upgrade it. She has no need for AVG and I’d suspect it is leaving her computer more exposed given the size of the cyber security research team behind Defender versus AVG.

First thing I thought was, is somebody still using AVG :)

What is AVG?

If it was triggered by a couple of words in an otherwise plain text/marked up post then that sounds like a clear case of a false positive so their unambiguous declaration that the site "is" dangerous seems ridiculous. :(

It may have been following the "Performance Update from Colm Fagan's ARF" thread?
No, it was a different thread as per the screenshot posted above.

You can report it to AVG as a false positive.

Text in a post won't (or should not) trigger a html-Script-Inf. It's triggered by an embedded javascript file in a webpage.

I didn't think that the Xenforo system would allow scripts to be posted like that?

They are not scripts bring posted by users.

They are part of the Xenforo software that runs in your browser. It's client side javascript being misidentified as malicious.

Then why isn't every post/thread generating the same AVG security warning?

That check seems to report no issues with that Askaboutmoney link/page and there's no "further details" link/option that I can see.

Is it the 'More Details' link in the top box on the right that is being referred to above
