Are all nursing home charges allowable ? What about chiropody , hairdressing and outings ?

You can also claim relief on the chiropody if it is prescribed, referred or advised to, by a practitioner:

I have a memory there was an earlier post on this and I think the outcome was you submit the receipt from Nursing home, you don't have to filett out minor charges.

You don't have to submit receipts for anything unless asked.

no chance that the Revenue will subsidise your hairdressing/outings - its not Switzerland or Norway we are living in .

And yet they do allow quackery like acupuncture to be claimed. Crazy stuff.

if you are paying anything out of pocket yourself for the person in the nursing home then you can claim a dependent relative allowance which is tiny but better in your pocket.
