Just got a letter from AIB refusing an overdraft of €200, am in full time employment and the only loan i have is with the Credit union for €500 to pay for car insurance, the crazy thing is that i was approved for a mortgage with AIB before Christmas but decided to hold off buying a house. Could anyone help with the following questions

1 Will this have any effect on my credit score?
2 If i dip into my savings this month, how would this effect a new mortage applicaton?
3 Why would they refuse an overdraft?

Thanks

1 - None whatsoever. It only records information on credit that has been drawn down, not applications.
2 - The o/d you wanted is only for €200. An amount like this siphoned off your savings would have no real material impact.
3 - They are rationing credit - you clearly don't meet all their criteria for an o/d. Mortgages are assessed on totally different criteria. Do you get your wages paid directly into this account? If not, then might explain it.
