After Illness Benefit?

Hi. I was on illness benefit for 12 months and did not apply for disability benefit for 3 months after that mainly because of ignorance and i had some money saved up. Have been staying rent free with an aged relative for 2 years during which time i had surgery. my money ran out in July and i have been kept fed by her since. I thought that i would have got a hearing by now but not a word. i just came out of hospital after more major surgery 2 months ago. Any advice on how to proceed? The back money was meant to enable me to rent a place of my own. Have been unemployed for 4 years.
 
Do you mean you applied for Disability Allowance? When exactly did you apply? Did you receive an acknowledgement of your application?

If you have no income, you may be eligible for Supplementary Welfare Allowance while you wait on a decision on your Disabilty Allowance claim. Contact your Communty Welfare Officer at your local health centre for more information.
 
Thank you. I received an acknowledgement from them around 4 months ago. Then i rang them up about 2 months ago and was told that i would hear no more from them until my claim was being seing to. Maybe i should ring up again?
 
I have'nt heard anything regarding that on radio shows. I thought it was just the unemployment queue that had such a long wait.
 
There is almost a 9 month processing time for DA claims. It is taking almost a year for SW appeals to get to hearings.
