Hi,
Recently i have been looking to buy a house in the louth area with my girlfriend who is a student in dublin but we cannot afford one so are looking at affordable housing from the government to get on our feet does anyone have any experience in this ie how long to get house if eligable and what the terms are.
I earn 43,000euro per year and my girlfriend gets 4 or 5 thousand a year as a grant.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Reading the link above might help...
The income test
  • Single income household
If your gross income (before tax) in the last income tax year was 40,000 euro or less (effective January 2006), (previously the limit was 36,500 euro), you are eligible.
  • Two income households
Multiply the gross income (before tax) of the higher earner in the last income tax year by 2.5 and add the gross income of the other earner in the last income tax year. If the answer is 100,000 or less (effective January 2006), (previously the limit was 92,000 euro), you are eligible.

Apply to Fingal CoCo too. Many of their affordable properties are in Lusk/Rush/Balbriggan, which would suit both Louth and Dublin
