Affordable Housing with Fingal Co Co

wots the difference with AH and AHI

The AF is affordable housing scheme - generally for people earing under €40k the AFI is the affordable housing inniative it for people earing up to €60k.

The houses on the AHI are generally more expensive but there are some currently available to be bought so the waiting list is alot shorter

The AH list is really long at the moment :(

I was wondering about the people who moved in to Martello if they had fan(s) installed in there downstairs toilet and upstairs bathroom? If not, has anyone got a quote for the installtion?

eh yeah I'm living there a while now - there are DEF fans because they were not connected and that was on my snag list ..........

Look a few feet above your light switchs,is there another switch that looks like a wider light switch? If there is this controls the fans.

I applied Nov 2006 and got approval Aug 07. Last month I got an offer of a viewing for Balbriggan. Didnt go though as it doesnt suit work-wise. Im VERY tired of waiting!!!!

I was offered a viewing of a 2 bed apartment recently which I had to turn down. When I asked the woman if anything (house, apartment, duplex whatever) with three bedrooms was coming up soon she just laughed and said 'oh you'll be waiting a while for three bedrooms!' I'm already on the list nearly 2 years for Pete's sake! It's SO frustrating.
Anyone have any news of new developments, viewings etc? There seems to be just nothing happening at the moment.

Can I ask you how long you've been on the list for? 2 years seems a long time. My friend got a duplex 3 bed after been on the list 10 months (she lives in fingal though!!) Im number 420 on the list apparently, so I dont know how I got an offer of a viewing lst month!! Any ideas anyone? Surely 420 people didnt turn Balbriggan apts/townhouses down??!?!

I was 550 on the list when I was offered to view houses in Balbriggan in October, just 2 months after being approved! I reckon people before us did turn down Balbriggan because as fingal say they are very fair when it comes to the list

I applied November '05 and I've been on the list since February 2006. I'm on the general list and just want a three bed house. I'd have somewhere long ago if I'd accept a two bed apartment.
Yeah, a lot of people turned down the 2 bed homes in Balbriggan so those further down the list got a viewing.

hi kara
im approved since aug 06 and like you am waiting on a 3 bed , I do know that there is a development of social and affordable homes waiting to be released in mullhuddart (blanchardstown)there is a delay in them being released to the council as to what that delay is im not to sure
but i feel your frustration i say i will be late january till anyone hears anything

The link has had those units up on it for ages... "for sale at present". Its been like that nearly 3 months now. I dont think they update to regulary. But like someone said late January maybe!!! The list seems to have really slowed down and im afraid if i ring Fingal once more they'll banish me from the list!!!!!

Have you ever considered that if you stop ringing the council things might happen quicker!

If the council staff have to keep answering calls from people asking where they are on the list they have less time to process applications and sort out the allocation of houses for people at the top of the list, so such calls are counterproductive and slow the whole process down.

People are offered houses according to their place on the list so phoning all the time doesn't speed things up.

Anyone from Fingal CoCo could not defend themselves better than you did for them

Got a letter from Fingal this morning for 2 bed apartments in Balbriggan, there is 11 available in total. One of them is an upper floor apartment. Anyone else get this letter?

Yeah, I got it. Not interested though- more bloody apartments! They sound nice however.
