Affordable housing Dunlaoghaire Rathdown-Parkview, Belarmine & Thornwood

Hi all

Does anyone know if there is any way of negotiating with the council about the apartments you've seen? I saw beautiful ones today but i wasn't too keen on the block they were in. Can you ask for ones a couple of blocks down or is that considered a refusal? Are you entitled to ask to see more in the same development?

I dont think so Lucie unfortunately

I still haven't heard from the council.... I just want to know what's going on. people keep asking me and i just have to shrug!

Am I missing something here? My sister is on the list for affordable housing with DLR for the past 2 years and has not had a viewing yet!! She keeps in touch with them and knows whats going on but some people here seem to have only been on it since 07 yet are hopeful of getting a place soon!!!???

It all depends on where you were drawn in the lottery last April.... you will be allocated a place according to your number from the lottery, not how long you've been waiting. Last yrs lottery was the last of it's kind now, as far as I know, when you apply now you will be put at the bottom of the list.

has anyone heard anything more from the council re Market value is BSQ? I see prices on the open market are falling rapidly

Does anyone not what appliances, if any, were included in the Beacon apartments.

Anyone got a viewing yet for Parkview or Belarmine?

Do DLR CoCo have any AHI ? Their website is shocking and they don't seem to have any forms etc to apply for it.. for AHI as I'm outside their AH guidelines. (not AH - their income limit is 40K for single applicant I see)

hi to all, i am new here. got some news from dlrcoco. today. they will make ivaluation for BSQ coz many complaints about too high MV from Landmark. my duplex is 560euro they told me, thats what Landmark wants for it.

Hi Darando

The 40k limit only applies to allocation of properties on council's own land. The income limit is higher for properties in private developments. They don't make it very clear. Might be worth ringing them. Also the 40k is net income.

That's the good news. The bad news is that anyone applying now will be at the end of a 3,000 strong waiting list. Might be worth applying to South Dublin - their list is much shorter and their boundary extends to Rathfarnham.

Cheers for that, I'm just going to fire the applications of to them all! If nothing ahappens so be it, better on the list than off it!!! Any idea of if DLR do AHI?

Hi Cheeus, I've been to a viewing in parkview. Think they're going to go thru them before they start belarmine

Hi Lucie

Were you at an affordable housing viewing?
Which block are they in? Duplexes or apartments?
What were they like size-wise?
Do you think you'll accept?

Sorry... lots of questions. Being dying to hear about Parkview for ages.

Cheeus, haven't been called for viewing for Parkview yet but drove up a few times and have figured out which ones they are. If you drive into Belarmine/Parkview, drive down main road through development Parkview on your left, go past car entrance to Parkview and then take small road off to left, drive past creche, this is dead end that ends in roundabout, the building right in front of you is afffordable/social housing one.

If you're feeling adventurous and want a proper look you'll have to hop a fence, is quiet round at night so seems ok to do this! I had a look in windows of ground floor units, nothing like normal Parkview blocks, internaly or externally, from what I saw and Lucie filled me in from her viewing they're quite small, no fitted wardrobes in bedrooms, fitting hard to see but without a doubt cheaper build than Parkview, and thats about all I could get from snooping. I'm sure you'll get viewing soon, there's loadsa 2-beds up there. Keep us posted.

Thanks Monos

It's good to hear that they're moving along the list.
I thought they were a different build alright. Still though, if you like the area I'd say they'll be great for some.

Fingers crossed!

For the Beacon people, found this on thepropertypin.com for sale for 440k

Interesting! Makes the fight for a realistic market value more important for you guys.

i've been offered a place in BSQ and have a few reservations.

what sq ft/m3 are they?
are all the good ones gone?
do they come with a parking space? i need a company car for work, she needs aone too.

if not how much are the parkign spaces?

is it worth losing your ftb status if you would not be willing /capable of living there for a few years.
