Advice need regarding which year is used to calculate state pension?

Hi my total contributions statement says I started work in 1981/1982 and I see they switched to simply 'years' in 2001. When it comes to calculating average contributions in 2026 for me, will they use 1981 or 1982 as my first year? It will make a big difference for me.

It will be from 1981.
First 2 digits its the begining of your record. It starts in 1981 and until the last complete year (end of 2026)

Your Prsi entry date could be anytime between 6th April 1981 up to 5th April 1982. If your entry date is in 1982 your average calculation probability begins from 1st January 1982.

Request a digital Prsi statement. Your Prsi entry date is shown at the top of Contributions Statement page of this document.

If it turns out that your entry date is in 1981 check out this thread.

Not sure if it would also happen on a digital statement, but the paper one they posted to me, the entry date was left blank. I know when it was, and all the years are listed correctly, but at the top of the form, entry date is blank.

Is that the same if you request a digital/PDF version from myWelfare? If so then maybe worth contacting them in case they need to update your records to correct/specify your date of entry just to avoid any confusion?

Edit: sorry, just noticed now today I'm repeating the same question that @S class previously asked!

I'm not sure if I can request that. Not currently resident. I just phoned up and requested a copy, and they posted it to me.

Lisgoold, I received a copy recently too. Also with date of entry blank.

I just checked mine and it correctly specifies my date of entry. Oddly it's the date of my 16th birthday even though I was working before that and had already accumulated 16 class M and 20 class A1 contributions and the latter are included in my total for pension purposes. Not sure how I managed to get 20 A1 while under 16!

Maybe the Date of Entry is left blank until you retire? In the same way that pre entry credits aren't visible until you retire? Maybe the A1 stamps clubman got before turning 16, were pre entry credits?
Unlike clubman, I've no idea when I received my first stamp!

Why not? What's stopping you from registering for and logging into your myWelfare account and requesting a statement?
Nothing is stopping me doing that. I've just done it again. This is what it ends up saying. I'm not sure why, because everything I enter is correct, and they'll just post it. Presumably if I'd entered incorrect information, they wouldn't post it, but they do.

I'll be over in a few weeks, so maybe I'll make an appointment. But I'm not sure how important it is, given that the statement clearly shows when I started paying PRSI. I'm not sure how they could dispute the date.

My entry date is different to the date on which I received my first (class M) PRSI contribution.

I'm not retired as far as DSP/OACP is concerned and my date of entry isn't blank.

Don't have that option under menu. It appears I only have limited access. Says I need to verify in order to get full access. In order to do that via the my welfare app, I would need an Irish passport, don't have, and an Irish address, don't have. So the only way to do it, is via an appointment in person. But even then, it clearly states I'd need to bring several things, one of which, is proof of an address in Ireland. So......can't do it.

Just as an update.

Received in the post this morning, statement of contributions from Sligo.

As on the previous statement, from around six years ago, the date of entry has been left blank.
