I want to register a business name to be able to get a i.e domain name for a project that I want to undertake in about 12 months time. I do not want to use my home address for either CRO or .ie. Is there anything to prevent me from using another address like my parent's address. I see you have to register with CRO and provide PPSN.

Also when you register business name online with CRO, do they give a business number automatically or do you have to wait until they send out a number so you can register for .ie domain name. I would be sick if I registered business name and someone stroked the .ie domain before me.

Can they be both done same day ?

Thanks for help

I couldn't imagine a problem registering your parents address, but that said, I can't see a problem registering your own address. You don't have to display it anywhere as far as I know. Although it is shown in the CRO records, which is searchable online.

Anyway, after you register you will have to wait around 2 weeks until they send you out the certificate which has the number on it. Or, you can ring them in 2/3 days and they should be able to give you the number over the phone.

Hi Catherine,

Business address can be any address.
.ie you can use any address also

Your address does not appear in the public WHOIS if you register a .ie domain

Once you have applied for the RBN with the CRO you can apply for a .ie domain but it may not be fully registered until you provide the final CRO number.
