AA 101 Inspection Cars

Buying second hand car. Dealer says AA101 POINT CHECK INCLUDED ....seems to be assuring..anyone any negative experiences with this guarantee? Whilst buying 2nd hand car purchase
 
That's UK. Most dealers now advertise AA 101 , point check , " passed" .....that's what I'm enquiring about specifically if anyone bought a car with that , point check , and any negative experiences in Ireland ....doesn't inspire confidence though in fairness , thanks

These "AA" checks are not actually done by the AA but by the dealerships themselves and they even effectively say not to depend on them and that they're no substitute for you getting your own independent assessment done.

It looks like from the advertising it's a AA passed vehicle... extremely misleading

Much of their roadside assistance is provided by local garages, I wouldn't have expected that they would send their own mechanics to check out cars under this scheme. One positive for you is that you may have additional come back in the event that an issue that should have been discovered by that check is uncovered after you purchase.

With the dealer, maybe. But not with the AA as far as I can see...

It's very very misleading , it's not unreasonable for someone reading that large sign in an garage that AA are involved in inspection - bad form

I thought it was common knowledge that they had no involvement, but maybe I'm just cynical and always on the look out for the small print. It's the list of checks that they're recommending along with endorsing that the dealer has agreed to he bound by a code of practice. No different to garages highlighting that they are SIMI members. Many other industries have similar schemes, but none of them beat the 'Product of the Year' scheme .
