2024 Form 11 - where to input details of income received from Microgeneration?

In 2024, I received about €500 from my electricity company in respect of the sale of solar electricity to the grid.

I know that there's a tax exemption of €400, meaning that I'm liable for tax on about €100, but I don't know where in Form 11 to insert the details, as the "Irish Other Income" page of the online Form doesn't appear to provide for inserting either the gross, or the net amount received.

The Revenue website is silent on this, so can anyone advise me what is required, please?

Enter the net amount in that line after deducting the exemption of €400. You are Eleanor in the example here.

Eleanor did not incur any incidental costs in generating this electricity in 2024 and has earned a profit of €500 from the microgeneration of electricity. The first €400 in profits from the microgeneration of electricity are exempt from income tax, USC and PRSI in the tax year 2024. There is no requirement for Eleanor to include the exempt profits in an income tax return.

However, as Eleanor has profits exceeding the exempt amount from the microgeneration of electricity in a year of assessment, the excess, of €100, is taxable as outlined above and should be included in a return of income.

Slight thread hijack
If there are 2 people named on the account would each have a €400 credit?
Meaning you only have a liability for anything over €800 in this scenario.

From the relevant tax and duty manual:

"Where more than one individual is named on the electricity bill each individual can avail of the exemption i.e. the exemption is not split between them."

Amazing that the companies selling the solar systems never mention that you must pay tax! They simply point out that your bill for electricity will substantially reduce!!

Is it really up to them to do that? Firstly, your bill can substantially reduce if you consume the generated electricity and export only a moderate amount - this depends on your home life pattern as much as anything else. Secondly, if you install battery storage, again your bill can be substantially reduced further through an increased rate of self-consumption. And thirdly, for all they know you have all 5 householders in your family named on the bill, in which case you can export €2000 worth of electricity without incurring a tax bill (those of you who frequent boards.ie Renewables forum will know who I'm talking about! ;)).

Either which way, your bill will be substantially reduced by a solar installation way before you become liable for tax.

But they are correct in that ones bill does reduce, sometimes substantially. You only pay tax on what is sold back to grid. Alot of electricity produced will be used by the house i.e reducing bill

Slight hijack too but probably better to have microgneration related tax queries in the one place if anyone is searching like myself in future. Can anyone tell me for form 12 what option should be used for microgeneration income? I had sent a message on the revnue site and they just said the non-paye income section but unsure what option i'm meant to use there.

Non-PAYE income -> Other income -> Untaxed income arising in the state -> Other investments
