Hey

Travelling to South America soon and on the way back I am stuck in Atlanta airport for 12 hours. Last time I was there was for 3 hours and there aint much to do in it. Thinking of heading downtown for a wander maybe take in Coke Factory but anyone got any tips ie places to leave luggage transport downtown etc

Re: Stuck in Atlanta Airport for 12 Hours

downtown atlanta is nto much better than the airport to be honest, spent a j1 summer there and never ever again. its a dump.

Agree with burger1979's comments ... not much doing in Atlanta .. a deeply unimpressive place in my (admittedly limited) experience of it

The two main attractions as I recall are Coca Cola and CNN .. both are worth a look .. I preferred CNN but Coke is quite a cool tour too (there's a room at the end where you could taste all the soft drinks they make worldwide ... you could make yourself very ill!)

The wonderfully named suburb of Buckhead does indeed have nice restaurants/bars in the evening (which is just as well as there sod all in the downtown after 6pm)... though it's not that great really and it's the wrong side of town for the airport

I had a 6 hour stopover in Atlanta once, it was sooooooooooooooooo boring. There is only so much food you can eat and books you can read.

TWELVE HOURS? I'd check into a cheap motel for a kip.

I got a day room in the Hampton Inn at Atlanta Airport for €30 during the summer. Just pick up the courtesy phone in arrivals and call a few hotels for a day-rate.
