My father in law slipped on ice yesterday

Just to give the other side. I had a very different experience lately when I slipped on the ice about five people ran over to check that I was OK and help me up. Two of them stayed with me for quite a bit making sure I was OK and hadn’t hurt myself. Luckily enough I only ended up with a bruised arm.

lol no

In fairness is was a mixture of people who came over and the two that hung around to make sure I was OK were an elderly gentleman and a woman who looked in her 20's.

A interesting survey some years ago showed that people are more likely to get involved or help someone in a situation if they are alone rather than part of a group. It appears from the research that a person on their own will react quickly to a situation while those in a group situation will wait for others to act first. I think its true too. I'm much more likely to become involved if i witness something while on my own. If I'm in company I am more aware of the other person and how they will react to me.
