Hi There, with new years goon intentions and everything does anyone know of a good gym in cork to join. I would be looking at the city center or the western side of the city. Cheers

Sorry, this isn't any help but do you really need to join a gym?!

Not being smart Holtend but notwithstanding specific athletic type training I've always found it amazing the amount of people who join gyms rather than get fit themselves.

Following on from Cavaet's comment this article was in this morning's paper. Might be of interest to you.

there are several ways to look at why join a gym, if you can afford it well and good. Since I joined a gym nearly 3 years ago, my health has never been better, I have met people at the gym I lost contact with, I have the option of using the sauna or steam room etc, the only real way to lose weight (in conjunction with healthy eating) is by using weights with cardio workouts, getting professional advice from instructors etc. I find I have more energy and my mind is sharper.

I use the gym regularly and the cost is justified by the above. You only get out of it what you put into it

Sure there are poncy gyms with posers everywhere and for some its a status thing - "I am a member of xyz gym" but these people seldom use it.

I have been a member of a gym (the kingsley) for the last couple of years, it got damaged in the flood and has yet to reopen. nobody needs to join a gym but some people like to. I do play alot of sports and am very fit, but i like swimming and doing weights to relax.
