How to soften new leather?

Hi all,

quick question, i recently bought a pair of knee high patent leather boots but am having a little difficulty trying to zip them up the full way. What is the most effective way to soften the leather?

Not much stretch on patent leather.

Lots of dubbin will work on ordinary leather; don't know about patent variety.

Could you contact the manufacturer for the info?

Why not try spraying a little silicone furniture polish on the zip and it might move more easily.

This might do the trick. We use it on the routing of the electric garage door and it keeps everything moving smoothly.
