I was in a phone shop in the Square the other day and there was a young girl there (looked about 19) and she had a little boy with her and a baby in a buggy.

She was in the queue in front of me when she spotted a guy she knew (he looked about the same age) chit chat followed.

He asked her what she was doing there, she said "buying a phone for him" referring to the eldest child. Male asked how old is he and she says 3. Male says I can't believe you are buying a phone for a 3 year old and young girl says well I have to cos he asked Santy for it, I also got him a flat screen tv and dvd player for his bedroom and a DSI. "Like you have to when they ask Santy".

I think I stood there in shock with my jaw dropped for about 5 mins!

How is this right?

She was buying the phone and talking about all the other stuff she was getting him 'from santy', while the child stood there listening to her??

Yep!!! Such bad form. And sure the Male was saying jaysus how much did you spend etc... Child seemed quite unaware though. While I felt that was really bad it wasn't really the part that bothered me though....

Yeah, the part that bothers you is probably that you/others work and can only afford to buy something around €150ish for their child, whilst this one, sitting on her ars*e all day, can afford all that! Great country.

What makes you think she doesn't work?

Gut I guess? :)

What's the betting there was an African lady leaving behind her buggy in the same shop (because social welfare give her new ones weekly) who left the shop before driving home in her taxi (paid for by social welfare)? Honest, it really happened - my friend's brother-in-law's mother definitely saw it.

I think both of the above comments show extreme bias, but from opposite sides. The first makes sweeping generalisations about the young lady in question rather than posting on the substance of the post (see thread on begrudgers). The second can't accept that such things happen because than the "noble poor" which he champions from a-far would be somehow tarnished as so the poster accuses the OP of being a liar.

Charming people all.

So you include yourself in the category that believes immigrants receive new buggys on demand whilst travelling by taxi paid for by the social ?

Nope, but there is plenty of abuse by immigrants and non-immigrants alike.
