I'm looking for a city centre Pub or Hotel so we can watch the match. Well not me exactly but you get the idea. I'm not looking for a place with a great atmosphere -infact the opposite - a quiet place which will deffinately show the game and a big screen would be nice. Any idea's?

& somewhere that can get the French TV coverage, cos the SKY/RTE coverage is still not confirmed.

The away game will more than likely be bought by RTE/SKY

The french will lower their price, because at the end of the day, they won't make anything if they hold onto the rights themselves.

Secondly, if it's a close game on Sat, the 2nd leg will deffo be bought.

The home game will be shown on RTE/SKY it's the away one that the French control.

It's way the away games that's under discussion.

And if RTE pay more than the 600K offered so far, the Liveline switchboards will be jammed with people ranting about the waste of taxpayer's money. The culprits are the FAI for selling the Croke Park rights to the highest bidder without thinking through the impact of that decision on the Stade de France rights. If RTE end up getting scalped, the FAI should be asked to offset that cost.

I hope RTE hold their nerve and not be held to ransom -anyway back to the topic any idea's for pub in Dublin -city centre - see my first post please.

i have watched a few games in messers maguires on the quays. upstairs top level they have a large screen and projector. get yourself set up early before hand with a few bar stools right next to the bar. therefore beers always on tap (pardon the pun) as your next to the bar keep and you will be able to see the screen. Can get a bit packed but is usually a good spot with good atmosphere and their beers are actually quite nice.

Thanks burger1979 - one to consider - any less packed but good spots in Dublin City Centre to watch game?

Agree. You would think that the rights for the away leg should be part of any deal involving the home leg.

The French are looking for €1.5m? RTE offered 600k?

Given that France has more than 10 times the population of Ireland, does this mean that the FAI got somewhere between €15m and €6m for the home game rights to be broadcast in France?
