shipping from U.S question

I want to order something online for a child for christmas. The product i want is only available in the U.S. I can get it shipped to a friends house there for free and am considering getting it fed exed or DHL'd or similar from there. The box is 31LBS. Any idea how I can find out how much this will cost... And who is the best to ship... Thanks
 
DHL, UPS et al have cost calculators on their web sites. Size if item and value will have an influence. I presume you're aware you will pay excise duty on the value of the item plus shipping? May be a very expensive present!

just checked out UPS. $839 to ship the package!! Think Santa will be shopping more locally this year. Unless anyone knows anywhere in Ireland (Rep or NI) who stocks the little tikes relax and ride wagon?? There are other one you can get but this is the one i really want. (you'd swear it was for me!!)
 
Try using USPS ( United states postal service )

It will be here within 10 days from shipment date.

It should be alot cheaper.

For an item like this the charge will be a volumetric one (length x depth x width) based on the package size rather than the weight. It is often much more expensive due to the space (volume) it occupies in trucks and aeroplane cargo-holds and the difficulties it can create with automated handling systems.
I notice amazon.com stock it - have you tried amazon.co.uk or .fr or .de ?

Thanks guys, I'd be prepared to pay about $60 to ship it but no more. I will check amazon. Otherwise it will be 2 tricyles!!!
 
Factor in that you could also get caught for VAT at 21.5% + An Post 6 euro charge if it gets pulled for a customs inspection.
 
I was searching the web for this product and found your post. I'm trying to find the Little Tikes Relax n Ride in Ireland but it doesn't seem to be available. Just wondering, indebtedgal, if u bought it from the UK? I can't seem to buy it on Amazon UK either. Thanks.
