Is it possible to transfer a credit card balance to a new credit card under a different name? I am planning to get a new credit card and want to transfer my husbands balance onto it
would bank give you an account in joint names and transfer both balances to one card? are balances high? No harm asking bank anyway
PTSB are slightly different to the other card issuers on the market as additional cardholders are co-applicants (are jointly responsible for the debt on the card) whereas all the other issuers issue additional users as authorised users (debt is the responsibility of the primary cardholder)

Hypothetically:
Say a parent names a child ( say a child aged 18 in college) as an additional card holder. Subsequently the parent dies while the child has gone mad with grief and is buying a car and a round the world trip using the parents card, then who is responsible for the debt if the primary card holder leaves no assets behind ?
The estate of the deceased will become liable for the outstanding balance on the card.
Talk about a hypothetical case....... In theory yes, however in practice it doesn't happen.
A block is placed on the card once notified of death.
Transferred my partner's balance on an MBNA card (interest rate went to 24% despite making all payments) onto my TSB ICE card. Screw you MBNA.
I thought personal unsecured debt such as a credit card died with you ?
Yes I was able to transfer balances on to an interest free mbna card from halifax. Between my husband and myself we transferred part from each card onto two new cards but from the other person (if that makes sense) to take account of the original debt and new credit limits. There were no questions asked.
This way I got 6 months interest free with halifax and I'm half way through the 10 months interest free with mbna. Debt is going down nicely and should be a lot more manageable when 10 months is up. May have to do one more move, say b of i clear card 6 months interest free to clear the balance totally.
