Hi all,
at the risk of starting a fairly heated thread i wanted to get a few opinions on this.

My boyfriend and I are going to a costume party. He has decided to go as a cowboy so i decided to go as an Indian ie American Indian. I got an outfit and some very dark bronzer to darken my skin (i'm fair skinned). Then after i got everything i panicked thinking god in this very PC time would someone think this is racist? There was war in Austraila when a group of dancers painted their faces to be the Jackson Five for a talent show but at the same time if i decided to go as a Geisha and didn't paint my face but wore the clothes this probably wouldn't have crossed my mind. I hate how very PC times are becoming but don't want to offend anyone either!

No, not racist IMO. It's simply accurate. It's no more racist than going as a pirate or something. I'd find someone who is honestly offended by this more offensive to me than the costume/make up itself.

i was in the Square in Tallaght at lunchtime, given the amount of fake tan on display there, if you bronze up, I think people will just assume you have shell suits and "howya" hoops at home and are just being a normal Tallaghtfornian !!!!

True! Crazy to think Yummie Drummies and Tallafornians have something in common! Here's hoping it is actually wash-off....

Sure as long as you dont make any wild threats about scalping people it'll be fine :D !!!

Jeez, Australia must be becoming a very whiney place if the Jackson 5 thing upset them, should we be losing it every time we see a leprechaun or a dodgy Oirish accent??

A friend is going dressed as a "little person" and hopes he doesnt offend any REAL little people there... (very funny costume though sorry ha!)
