hi all

I have the vodafore at home wireless broadband router in the house and it works great. My problem is my office is about not much less than 100 feet from the house and I need to know if there is any way of boosting the signal from the router.

any help appreciated.

cheers

Is your office on the same electrical circuit? You could get one of those electricity routers. This sort of yoke:

I bought a pair of them in Lidl and they work great for me!

sounds good Yogan

when did you get them in Lidl and what did they cost?
Eh, about a year and a half ago and I think they were about 40 euro for the pair?

Found this on ebay:

I'm sure there are more...

I second the home Plugs but I got mine in Pcworld for 80 euro !!

I use mine to get a good signl upstairs. I have a wireless router (apple airport express) added to the output so I have wirless signal.

Our wireless router is hard wired to the land line to get its own initial signal.

Extend the line to the office and install another wireless router there.

Just re-read the original post and the home plugs may not work. If the office is in a different building to the house then probably has a different electrical circuit - so home plugs won't work.

Can you run a Cat5 cable from the house to the office ?

I coulc but it would be better if i didn't have to - would have to redid the place again and i'm not sure the wife would be best pleased!

Could i install a SECOND router in the office? When i changed recently from Eircom to Vodafone i got a new router but still have the old and have a phone line connected in the office (or rather will have shortly - run off the same line to the house)

Not sure if you could run 2 routers off the same phone line at the one time. One of the others readers might know if this is possible.

If not, you could possibly switch off the one in the house when going to the office and turn on the one in the office when you get there. And do the reverse when finished in the office.

hi ned .. just a quick question, hope you dont mind, ive ordered the broadband from them also (was with bt) is it handy to set up yourself? should have it in about 3 weeks i think. thanks susan.

It's not possible to have two DSL devices run concurrently on a single line.

Does your office work of power from the house ? Does it have its own fuse board ?

Maybe the House Plugs would work.
