Heading to the world cup qualifier v France on morning of the game, Wed 18th Nov.
Any ideas on the best way to get from Brussels (main airport) to Paris:

a/ train from city centre
b/ car hire
c/ is there a bus service from the airport itself as I can't see anything on the website?

If it is the real Brussels airport that Aer Lingus presumably still fly into then you can get a train from the airport to Brussels and a high speed train direct from there to Paris. Total travel time of just over 2h. Of course you still have to get around/across Paris.

Check out http://www.bahn.de for details of times, etc . . . check out the Belgian railways site (don't have the URL to hand) for prices.

If it's Charleroi that Ryanair fly into then you have to get a bus to Brussels first.

If you haven't booked flights yet, consider getting the Eurostar from London to Paris. . .

Or, just flying to Paris.

You can get a train from Brussels Zaventem airport to Brussels Gare du Midi station and from there a train to Paris Gare du Nord. . If you fly into Charleroi with Ryanair you can get a shuttle bus to Gare du Midi, or a local bus to Charleroi Sud and then a train to Brussels and then to Paris.

cheers. it's the main airport, aerlingus.
might be quicker to just hire a car as there's a few of us

Flights to Paris almost full on 17th or early 18th Nov and back day after the match.
A few left at nearly 400 euros !

I reckon that at remaining seat prices, plus one maybe two nights at hotel plus ticket many punters will be spending over 600 perhaps 800 euros - for a football match !

I've had so many male clients who will happily spend more on a two-day trip to see an important match abroad than they would on a weeks holiday for the whole family.
Economic sense flies out of the window; there'll be a lot of hardship if we get thru to the World Cup.

p.s. In last five minutes price of Brussels flights have gone up three times- and I still can't sell those bargains to the sun!!

got flights for €130 and hotel in clichy where all the partying will be for €25 each for a night. Throw in the transfers between Paris from Brussels at about €50 and match tickets for around €25 = €230. Cant complain about that

Another alternative is flying to Amterdam (Schipol). The train from the airport can take you directly to Paris (Gare Du Nord) in 5 hours, no transfers.

If you decide to get the train to Paris, make sure you book in advance, as far in advance as possible. The prices go up as the date approaches and if you turn up at the train station on the day to buy a ticket you could be charged big money - €100 if your unlucky.

If flying into CRL, there may be other option than backtracking to Bruss.

Sorry, I see now that there is just one daily Thalys from Charleroi-Sud to Paris, pre 8am.

You could drive from Charleroi no problem. The roads are great. Just bring sat nav. Will take about 3 hours though. Hire car will cost you approx: 50 euro per day + fuel + parking

booked the 'smoove' fair on thalys....€55 return. no 1 was keen on driving into paris but it would ahve been the cheaper option.
fare all gone now though
