Hi

We're a small export business based in Galway and occassionally we have to get documentation stamped at the Dept of Foreign affairs or at a foreign embassy. This requires a member of staff to go to Dublin often at short notice. Given we've only 4 staff, its a huge cost both in terms of travel and being down a man for a day.

Is there anyone providing a PA type service like this in Dublin city centre?? Obviously I'm looking for someone trustworthy and efficient.

there was a professional queuing service advertised a while back - q4u or something like that.

Would you have a retired friend or relative who lives in Dublin, who could do this for you???... I suggest retired, or otherwise not working because of your need for flexibility, and the potential for waiting around to get the documents attended to...

I would regularly do something similar for a friend who ran a food business... I have the time, so I would often get on the train to drop samples to potential customers in Belfast, Cork, Galway, Roscommon, Kerry, etc... As he's my best pal, I never took payment, but he covered any costs that I had, and he also made generous donations to charity on my behalf... I used to really enjoy it, and he knew that he could totally rely on me...

I'm sure that others could enjoy it, too, and it's an efficient and cost effective way of doing the job... Certainly a whole lot cheaper than wasting a day for a member of your staff....

Ask your solicitor. Most solicitors use a variety of 'Town Agents' as they are called to lodge papers in Dublin Castle, Four Courts etc., and some of these are local people who have made a little business of it. Such a person might be able to take on your work too.

Any person with some office experience used to shouldering responsibility could do this.

However unless you're willing to accept personal recommendations or offers from this forum you're looking at going to an agency.

Plenty of out of work young architects out there looking for paying work at the moment.
