It wouldn't interest me but I don't think it's so terrible - it's not as if people are going to deliberately put on weight to enter?

Maybe it is celebrating obesity in some ways but many, many more aspects of media celebrate practical anorexia and are responsible for poor body image and low self esteem (mainly with regard to women) which is worse IMO.

And yes, speaking as a man, I would find very large much more attractive than very skinny as it happens.
 
It's an excercise in futility really, isn't it?

They are never going to break the charts because there will always be a stigma about image. People are drawn to the media's definition of perfection. Although, if they made people feel more comfortable about who they are, then it can't be the worst thing.

At the end of the day, even if someone comes with the view that it is promoting obesity, if a person truely wants to lose weight they can. Seeing something like this won't change there mind on what they are happy with.
 
mmm It would be interesting to see who sponsors the show - Weight Watchers or McD's.... :D
