Not to make a petty distinction - but it would be issued by the Postal Service of the government which is elected by and serves both the settlers and the native Americans. It is just that the settlers are now in a majority.

That remark is deeply offensive to me personally - it's akin to addressing a major event in, for example, Jewish history and saying "Regardless of the merits of the Holocaust, it happened ..."

... it's part of Irish Heritage and the way Ireland is today so why not acknowledge it.

One of the main issues, reading the posts so far, is the use of the word "celebrate" by An Post in connection with an event in our history where a foreign invader inflicted racist and religious persecution on Irish people and commenced a regime of genocide that lasted centuries.

i find it distasteful to say the least.

The link I found uses "Mark" rather than "Celebrate", can anyone find a link to where "Celebrate" is used.

That said I'd rather they didn't mark it let alone celebrate it, it would be like the muslims coming out with a Crusades stamp or the palestinians celebrating Israeli occupation

edit Thurs 9am. The text has been changed on the link/ Last night I went back to the original page i'd linked to (through my history, offline) and it clearly said "celebrate". I spent ages trying to copy it and i didn't know how to take a screen shot. aaved it as a webpage complete but when i opened it it had "mark" instead of "celebrate".

Please tell me someone else looked at the link i posted originally and can confirm that it did use "celebrate".
