where to buy a commodity!

i trade with aib-goodbodys , but you can't buy a commodity eg, gold,sugar through them. does anyone know how I'd go about doing this as i've only bought stocks ....equitys to date??

Make sure you don't just jump into buying commodities, especially futures without doing your homework. There is a bg difference to buying stocks and investing in commodities.
There are plenty of resources on the web that explain what is involved.

Many commodities, and baskets of commodities, can be bought using exchange traded funds (ETFs) and you can buy these through your stockbroker (Goodbody's as you mention). A comprehensive site covering commodity ETFs is the London-based ETF Securities - [broken link removed]

Your private client dealer in Goodbody's should know his/her way around that site and should be able to assist you so long as you already know what commodity you are looking to gain exposure to.
 
try one of the local financial spreadbetting companies Delta Index or Worldspreads.....I've used both and the latter gives tighter spreads on commodities....whatever you do make sure to set clear target return objectives and set a limit for your downside too.
