Need media/hard drive advice

I bought a Cyclone 1TB media hard drive in March from a UK supplier. The USB port is consistently faulty and I'm having huge difficulties in getting them to transfer the hard drive to a housing that works & send it back. At this stage they're acting silly buggers & just offering a refund - I've HEAPS of stuff stored on it which would take me many months to replace so am not happy with their response.

How could I get the stuff from the hard drive transferred to another device/drive given that the USB is knackered. I'm not brilliant with this type of stuff so please forgive me my dumbness (I'm not one for taking the back of a PC & fiddling with the innards)

All advice/tips welcome

Many thanks

I meant to get your data off it before returning it. Assuming your data has some value to you. Should always have at least two copies of your data.

The only way I'd know is if you're running a server which manages drives on a network. But thats a story for another day.

I have an app that sync's my internal drive (the changes) to an external drive about once a fortnight. You can set this up as a schedule, but I just do it manually. The same to another drive every couple of months. I might make a DVD copy of the critical stuff once in a blue moon. The drives are encrypted too. Generally these drives and DVD's are not left near the computer. Otherwise someone could steal the lot in one go.

The only problem with taking the drive out of the enclosure you have is it may invalidate the warranty. Assuming they could tell you'd done it.
