Have new laser card charges come in?

Hi, In a shop today when I made a second purchase on my laser card I was told that I would be charged again with the 'new government charge on laser cards' and she indicated that my 4.99 purchase might cost 6 euros... I've done a search online but can't seem to find anything. Can anyone enlighten me?

So perhaps the shop has introduced a charge which they will now sting me with? The second purchase happened because they had made a mistake with my first one.... I'm not happy with them in the first place and definitely don't want to give them any more of my money.... Can they add charges without informing you first?
 
A restaurant I am familiar with gets charged 0.32% for laser cards ,so about 2 cents on a €5 purchASE.I don' t know of any other charges.
 
Laser has a fixed charge of 25 cent per transaction regardless of value. There is no % charge.

So does this mean that I get charged 25 cent and say restaurant get charged 25 cent.

Bank make 50 cent on each laser transaction. ?

Believe me ! - I know all about bank charges , you should just see our monthly statements ................its ''enough to make a grown man cry '' . ! !

I know our local bank loves '' swings and roundabouts '' but they definately take us for a ride
 
Complete and utter garbage, there was nothing in the last budget on this. Sounds to me as if the retailer is preparing customers for a "makey up" charge he is planning on introducing
 
We were buying with our VISA yesterday in a furniture shop, we were told it would cost us 7.50e to use the VISA!!! due to bank charges - Laser was free...

That's becuase Visa charge a % to the shop. Laser as said above is fixed.
 
Well, the transaction came up on my statement today and I was charged only the 4.99 so I don't know what she was talking about.....
